Reply with quote | #1 | I grew up at sunshine speedway basicly. Those were the good ole days. I would go play my little league game in the morning and go watch my uncle race at night. There are a lot of good local tracks around here. If you have never been and you even kinda like racing you should go. Dirt track racing is probably the coolest at the local level. Especially sprincars.
Some local tracks are Eastbay Raceway. Thats a dirt track, about 1/2 hr from airport. Desoto speedway. Thats an asphalt track that i like to go to when i want to see some asphalt racing. Its praobably a good 1hr 15min from the airport. In bradenton The best asphalt racing in almost the whole country is in New Smyrna speedway near Daytona. Thats where all the rich guys go to race and they usually have the biggest purses which draws the best drivers. These tracks are struggling right now so if you ever get the racing itch you should try it. You can take the family and there is always a good seat. You even get to go into the pits after the races and check out the cars you just saw. If you go w/o children you can buy pit passes and you can be in the pits while the racing is going on and that is really really cool. I love doing that. Shoot you might even see a fight or two. __________________ '96,'06,'08 National Champion Florida Gators |

Nothing better than the local tracks. I used to go to Sunshine when I was a kid...who was your uncle? Also, DeSoto is a great track and they are building the late model class pretty nicely. About 20 cars or so the last time I was there! |
